SEO Migration Services: Relaunch Without the Losses

SEO migration services for a replatform, redesign or domain move. The brief comes before the design, because the damage is done by decisions nobody flagged as risky.

How Migrations Lose Rankings

Nobody in a migration does anything wrong. The designer makes a better-looking site, the developer builds what was designed, the client approves something they prefer.

The loss happens in the gaps between those roles, because no single person owns the search requirements. That is why the fix is a written brief rather than a reviewer.

Five decisions cause most of it: URLs changing without redirects, body content moving behind JavaScript, copy cut for layout, internal links lost to a tidier menu, and titles rebuilt from a blank page.

What We Own

OUR METHODOLOGY

The Migration Gate

01

Baseline First

Export impressions, positions and the full URL list before anything changes. This step cannot be done retrospectively.

02

Requirements in the Brief

URLs preserved or redirected, body rendered server-side, word counts held, heading structure carried over. In the contract, not the kickoff call.

03

Crawl Both

Old site against staging, URL for URL. This catches every missing redirect while fixing one is still cheap.

04

Render With Scripts Off

Ten minutes that catches the failure hardest to diagnose afterwards, because the page looks complete to every human reviewer.

05

Launch and Watch

Daily checks for the first fortnight against the baseline, because a redirect applied two weeks late has already cost whatever was crawled.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should you involve us in a migration?
Before the design work, not before the launch. By the time there is a staging site the URLs are decided, the content is written, and the only remaining options are expensive ones.
Can I change my URL structure safely?
Yes, with a redirect from every old URL to its closest new equivalent, and with the understanding that the closest equivalent is sometimes a worse match. Google documents how consolidation works.
What if we already launched and lost traffic?
Then the first job is finding what was lost: usually the redirect map or deleted content. A redirect applied late recovers relatively quickly; content that no longer exists does not recover until it is rewritten.
Is a single-page application a problem?
Only when the content exists solely after the script runs. Server rendering or prerendering resolves it, and the test is simply whether the body is in the HTML before any JavaScript executes.

Bring us in for the brief, not the recovery.

A few days of bounded work protects a project worth considerably more. If your migration is already too far along for a brief to help, we will say so rather than bill for it.
